Aquilegia pubiflora is a perennial herb of height 75 cm. It has soft pubescent hairs and leafy branched stem. Leaves are pinnately compound, glaucous beneath. Flowers are deep purple and solitary. Sepals and Petals are 5 in number.
The specific name pubiflora refers to pubescent flowers. The genetic name Aquilegia refers the flowers in this genus resemble the claws of eagle.
