Taraxacum officinale is a white latex bearing herb with rhizomatous rootstock. Leaves all basal, rarely linear and toothed along the margins. Flower heads are bright yellow, solitary.
The specific name Officinale refers to a herb which is sold for its medicinal properties. The genetic name Taraxacum refers to bitter herb.
