Verbascum thapsus is a herb of 1-1.5 m tall, stem is leafy, erect. All parts of the plant is covered by dense woolly tomentum. Stem is narrowly winged and with bases of leaves. Flowers are yellow in color, wool like and on rod like spikes.The genetic name thapsus refers to densely woolly filaments of stamens.

Whole plant is used in treating bronchitis and asthma. Leaves are used in cough, diarrhea, inflammations, flowering spike is used in the treatment of leucoderma, seeds are used as a narcotic and used for the treatment of hysteria.
Location in the Valley of flowers
It is found between Govindghat and Ghangaria. It is commonly available near Village Bhyuandar. It can also be found at Village Mana near Badrinath.
