Valley of flowers trek itinerary | Day 1
Haridwar to Auli
Distance: 315 km
Journey: 10-12 hrs by road


The trek to Valley of flowers begins at Haridwar, the holy city. You will be picked from one point in a convenient conveyance. We will drive towards our starting point which is Govindghat. It’s a full day ride alongside river Alaknanda. There may be prospects to see Rudrprayag and Devprayag along the way. It depends on the punctuality of the group and the feasibility of time.
Alaknanda further flows down to DevPrayag and meets River Bhagirathi to form river Ganga.
Along the journey are beautiful sights of the emerald rivers. Lunch is arranged on the way and we finally reach Govindghat by evening. Positioned at the bank of River Alaknanada, Govindghat is the embarking point of the trek. Relish the splendid scenes around and relax for the journey next morning.

Auli to Ghangaria
Distance: 40 km by road and and 10 km by trek
You may choose to take ponnies and porters. Even helicopter is available. But you cannot depend on Helicopter as flying of Helicopter depends upon weather conditions. It may or may not fly on a particular day.

This is what you get to see once walking 7 km towards Ghangaria village. Trek towards this beautiful snow clad mountain and you will reach Kag Bhusandi Lake. It’s a charming high altitude lake.
Breakfast early morning and start the trek at 7 am towards Ghangaria village. You will witness enchanting views all along. Lunch can be managed on the way. Trekking along River Pushpavati is amazingly beautiful.

The first 9 kms of trek are alongside Pushpavati. After having lunch on the banks of the river, we will cross it. The forthcoming 4 kms are slightly steeper. A total altitude gain is approximately 1.5 kms.
Reach Ghangaria by the evening and relax. One can also visit the nearby waterfall and enjoy the picturesque locale. Some rare species of birds and tailless rats can be seen here.

Ghangaria to Valley Of Flowers and back to Ghangaria
Distance: 13- 14 kms
Duration: 7-8 hrs by trek
This day you will witness one of the most alluring places of the world. Its impeccably beautiful and pleasing environment will surely entice you.

Rise early in the morning and have breakfast. You’re all set to trek towards Valley of Flowers at 7 am. A ticket is issued at the entrance which is valid for 3 days. The ticket costs Rs 150 for Indians and Rs 600 for non-Indians.

So you are entering a dream land. No need of carrying water as the sparkling water is drinkable. No pollution and no urbane life. Pure bliss and beauty.
Enter and the valley’s check point and you will witness the solace of nature. Your ears are blessed with sounds of chirping birds and rhythmic flowing water. There is no pollution and a life of natural beauty awaits here.
You should prefer to have lunch at the Pushpavati River bed (see picture). If you quickly wind up your time, you can reach this point. You should not be missing this splendid scene which is 6 km far from Ghangaria. So, the total trek becomes 14 km.
The experience is impeccable and will create memories of a lifetime. It’s an epitome of unblemished natural beauty.
Valley of flowers trek itinerary | Day 5
Ghangaria to Hemkund Sahib and back to Ghangaria
Distance: 12 km
Time: 7-8 hrs by trek
Early breakfast and an early start to Sri Hemkund sahib will begin your day. Leave by 7am and reach this pious Gurudwara. The high altitude lake is a treat for nature lovers.


Braham Kamal and Blue Poppy – They are a rare species of flowers. Brahamkamal has special significance in Hindu religion and is admired by people. The blue poppy is a distinct flower and attracts people especially the Japanese.
The lake is reposing at an astounding altitude of 13500 ft above sea level. Fabulous scenes can be enjoyed along the way. This 6 km trek is quite steep but worth it. Charming scenic beauty along with sights of flowers like blue poppies, vajradanti and brahmkamal is truly delightful.

Ghangaria to Pulna Trek, Drive to Badrinath and Mana, by evening reach Auli
Distance: 13 km
Time: 5 hours by trekking
Ghangaria to Badrinath
Distance – 55 km by road and 10 km by trek
Time – 1 hr by road
Rise early and begin the trek at 6am. You will traverse towards Pulna and reach there by lunch. After lunch, there will be road journey to Badrinath. It’s a beautiful journey with sights of waterfalls and rivers. The flowing Alaknanda is an amazing view. Wonderful sights all along the journey are delightful.

We will head towards village Mana. It’s pleasurable to see the starting point of River Saraswati at Mana. Visit the small locale and check-in hotel for relaxing.

Auli to Haridwar
Distance: 320 km
Time: 10-12 hrs by road
This is last day of the trip. After an early departure from Auli, you can have breakfast and lunch on the way to Haridwar. You will reach the destination by evening. This is where we take leave and the trip concludes with great memories.

Zig zag road from Badrinath to Haridwar. It’s 20 km from Joshimath. You can also see River Alaknanda at the back.
It’s tiring physically but mentally you will be on a high. The experience, the sights and the trip is very exciting for everyone. You might leave for home the same day or plan to take rest at Haridwar.

We are planning a visit to hemkund sahib and valley of flowers in june 1st week. Is valley of flowers worth a visit at this time of the year given the fact that it has just opened and not many flowers will be in bloom. Also will there be snow at or on the way to hemkund sahib/valley of flowers that we can play with?
